Efficient Urban Runoff Quantity and Quality Modelling Using SWMM Model and Field Data in an Urban Watershed of Tehran Metropolis

چکیده

This study aims to calibrate and validate the EPA Storm Water Management Model from field measurements of rainfall runoff, in order simulate rainfall-runoff process an urban watershed Tehran metropolis, Iran. During after three significant storm events, flow rates, total suspended solids (TSS), phosphorus (TP), Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN) concentrations were measured at outlet catchment, used model calibration validation process. The performance SWMM was evaluated based on statistical criteria, as well graphical techniques. In this study, a local sensitivity analysis carried out identify key parameters, show that “the percentage impervious surface each subwatershed had most effect output”. Based results, can be judged satisfactory, goodness-of-fit indices for simulating runoff quality quantity are placed acceptable ranges. adjustment obtained variations simulated pollutograph concentrations, pollutant load, peak concentration, event mean concentration (EMC) confirms considerable predictive capability when it is calibrated by using measurements.

Quality of Urban Runoff in the Tijuana River Watershed

A sampling program was conducted to assess the quality of runoff associated with a variety of land uses in the Tijuana River watershed, a binational river basin on the U.S. Mexican border. Generally, metal concentrations in samples collected during the first two to four hours of runoff (early storm) were higher than those in samples collected 24 36 hours into the rain event (late storm). A nota...

Coastal water quality impact of stormwater runoff from an urban watershed in southern California.

Field studies were conducted to assess the coastal water quality impact of stormwater runoff from the Santa Ana River, which drains a large urban watershed located in southern California. Stormwater runoff from the river leads to very poor surf zone water quality, with fecal indicator bacteria concentrations exceeding California ocean bathing water standards by up to 500%. However, cross-shore ...

An integrated approach for urban water modelling, linking a watershed hydrological model and a cyanobacteria dynamics model in urban lakes

In the future, the frequency and the intensity of cyanobacteria blooms in urban lakes are expected to increase in response to climate change and expanding urbanization. In order to study the impacts of watershed changes on cyanobacteria dynamics in urban lakes, a modelling approach, in which an ecological lake model is connected to a hydrological watershed model, is proposed. To validate this a...
